Holy cow. I can’t even believe that I am writing this post, but here I am, sitting on my comfy couch, in my new running capris, watching old episodes of Grey’s, and I’m WRITING THIS POST.
Ya’ll…it has been suggested to me on a few too many occasions lately that perhaps I should take a closer look at my caffeine intake. And by “caffeine intake” it really means coffee. I don’t eat sweets, I don’t drink pop (soda, coke – whatever you call it). I drink 24 oz. of the “good stuff” loaded with cream every single morning. If I don’t have coffee, a headache will ensue somewhere between 2-4PM guaranteed.
Coffee is my vice.
Some people go out for happy hour, I go out for coffee.
I have been known to bring my 64 oz. (1/2 a pot) cup to work on occasion to get through my 12 hour shifts. Yep.
And I think these “professionals” in my life concerned about my caffeine intake, might just have a valid point. So while I can’t just give up cold turkey, I’m going to try something new. I’m going to try tea. Tonight I found myself wandering the grocery aisle and staring at a million different boxes of tea. Right away I found the “caffeine meter” on the side of a couple of boxes and realized I could have my same 24 oz cup and have it be equivalent to 2 cups of coffee with the tea instead of 4. Mind game people. If I believe I drank 4 cups of something with caffeine, perhaps it’ll make me “stay awake.”
So I’m going to start tomorrow. No matter how much it sucks, I’m going to go 14 days without ANY COFFEE TOUCHING MY LIPS. Are you frightened for me? I certainly am. But I’m willing to give it a go. And I know I have some friends right now that are seriously considering ending our friendship after reading this post. Don’t worry…I can still get tea at coffee shops!!! :)
So we’ll see how this goes. I will be blogging about it as I go. Just keep reminding me that this is better for me. Am I going to give up coffee altogether? HECK NO. But it can’t be my vice anymore.
No coffee until October 7th. Holy cow.
