I was on lunch break at work yesterday and was just about to log out of facebook when I hit my news feed one more time.
Right there, in front of my face, was the announcement I’d been waiting for. Registration was officially open for the half marathon I’m training for.
3 minutes after the big facebook announcement, I was sitting on active.com, I’d punched in all my payment/registration information, and I was about to click “submit.” My hand was literally trembling holding the computer mouse. I could barely breathe. But I did it. I clicked “submit.” I’m officially registered for the half!
Big moment. I’m committed now. (As if I wasn’t when I created this blog?)
I guess it just feels more official.
The best part about this logo? The girl is AHEAD of the boy. :)
And for those of you wondering, yes, I did put in my 4-mile run after work last night. The whole warm up, cool down went from 8:38 PM – 9:19PM. I was home by 9:45. The bad thing? I got completely dressed in the locker room, put my hair up, and then went to grab my New Balance shoes out of my bag. Um…where are they????? Oh yeah…sitting on our floor mat in our garage because I did my outdoor run on Wednesday. ARGH!!!!!! So I strapped on my black beat up work tennis shoes that I wear with my black work scrubs. I must be committed to this thing considering I had black tennies on, white socks, pasty white legs, and short black shorts. I looked HIDEOUS. And I went out in public like that.
It was a sight to behold. I considered taking a picture of the nasty legs/shoes for ya all, but didn’t want to blind you with my pasty legs.
You’ll just have to trust me.
Not sure if this half registration lit a fire under my butt or what, but it was the easiest run I’ve ever had. I was barely tired afterwards and felt like I could have gone a lot longer. And that was on 25 hours of work in 2 days and only 9 hours of sleep in 48. I should run when I’m exhausted more often!
Anyways…great run despite shoe issues and it’s official now. Does that make this blog more official?
I just got though with my 40 mins of cross-training. I did some random aerobic video I’ve had stashed away for years now. Kinda lame, but I’m at least sweating at the end of it.
The hubs and I are going on a date tonight. I’ll be prepping for tomorrow’s 6-mile run with a plate load of pasta…perhaps there will be a decent picture coming your way soon!
